Jamshedpur, Oct 17: The drug department in a significant crackdown, conducted a raid on Dey’s Medical Store situated on Straight Mile Road in Sakchi on Wednesday, uncovering a serious violation of licensing regulations. The operation revealed that the store had been operating without a valid license for the past two years, having allowed its license to expire in 2022 without renewal.
During the raid, officials seized approximately 105 types of medicines, valued between two to two and a half lakh rupees, including several banned narcotics. The enforcement action was prompted by information obtained from an individual arrested the previous evening at Tatanagar Railway Station. This individual was found in possession of 170 bottles of cough syrup, which he claimed to have purchased from Deys Medical Store, intending to transport it to Odisha.
Drug Inspector Abrar Alam and his colleague Soni Bara led the investigation, highlighting the grave implications of the illegal drug sale. Following the raid, the authorities announced plans to file a case against the shop owner in court, emphasizing the importance of regulatory compliance in safeguarding public health.
