Jamshedpur, Oct 17: As the Jharkhand assembly elections approach, the Congress party appears poised to secure both the Jamshedpur East and West seats once again. Despite a competitive environment with numerous candidates vying for tickets, sources indicate that the candidacies of sitting MLA and current minister Banna Gupta from Jamshedpur West, and Dr. Ajoy Kumar from Jamshedpur East, are gaining substantial traction.
Banna Gupta’s position as the Congress candidate for Jamshedpur West seems almost finalized, despite challenges from other local leaders like Dharmendra Sonkar and Rakesh Tiwari. Gupta’s established reputation and incumbent status bolster his chances significantly.
In Jamshedpur East, Dr. Ajoy Kumar, a member of the Congress Working Committee and a prominent figure in the party, is reportedly the frontrunner for the ticket. His relentless efforts and the lack of a stronger candidate have solidified his position. Although East Singhbhum District President Anand Bihari Dubey also seeks the ticket, his previous electoral losses have weakened his claim.
Interestingly, some of Dr. Ajoy Kumar’s rivals are backing Anand Bihari Dubey, but the consensus among party insiders is that Dr. Kumar will likely be the chosen candidate. While multiple leaders, including Ashok Chaudhary and Raghunath Pandey, are in contention, expectations lean heavily toward Dr. Ajoy Kumar ultimately securing the nomination. The evolving political dynamics in Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur constituency will be crucial to watch as the election date approaches.
