Jamshedpur, March 26: UCIL’s Konark team emerged winner in the Department of Atomic Energy’s 36th Volleyball Competition by beating Dwarika in a keenly contested final faceoff. CMD of UCIL, CK Asnani expressed happiness over the Konark team winning the Volleyball Championship trophy. At the same time, Asnani observed, “The Volleyball championship showcased sportsman spirit of the highest order. In keen contests like the ones we saw during the 36th volleyball competition, there is only one winner but there are no losers. The Dwarka team gave their Konark counterparts a run for their money before the latter could lay their hands on the winner’s trophy. Every match was exciting because the spirit of the game prevailed.” The Dwarika team was awarded the runners up trophy. The UCIL CMD announced a cash prize of Rs One lakh to the winning team, Konark, while all the other participating teams also would be rewarded. It may be mentioned that eight teams from across India participated in UCIL’s 36th Volleyball tournament. The participating teams included Konark (Jadugoda), Ajanta (Mumbai), Ellora (Mumbai), Dwarka (Mumbai, Indore, Gujarat), Nagarjuna (Andhra Pradesh) and Golconda (Andhra Pradesh).
