Mohna dance and music fest at Rivers’ Meet today

Jamshedpur, March 26: Kalamandir is one of the few organizations dedicated to preservation, upkeep and propagation of traditional tribal culture deeply rooted in art, craft, dance and music of the soil. In fact, Kalamandir has been assiduously organizing state and country level programmes to pep up the spirit of joy even under arduous living conditions. The people are known for blowing away the daily pangs of earning two morsels through community dances and songs. This uniqueness of tribal life is what Kalamandir continues to work on and the efforts have not gone in vain as keen interest in tribal ways of life and culture is attracting wider interest.

Sunday, March 27 is another date of rendezvous with tribal culture. A one day cultural festival of traditional tribal dances and music will be organized by Kalamandir under sponsorship of Department of Tourism, Art Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Jharkhand from 5 pm at the Tribal Culture Centre amphitheatre in Sonari on the occasion of World theatre Day. The dance and music festival has been programmed as Mohna Dance Festival that will be replete with traditional tribal dance and music forms. One of the Kalamandir executives explained, “The purpose of organizing the Mohna Dance Festival is to exhibit the totality and superiority of our traditional culture to the masses and at the same time, to preserve the folk traditions and provide opportunities to exponents of these traditional facets that will in turn provide earning avenues.”
