Jamshedpur: The Deputy Commissioner, Karn Satyarthi, ordered the renewal of licences for two ultrasound centres while chairing a review meeting on the PC-PNDT Act at the Collectorate auditorium. He also directed that all ultrasound facilities in the district undergo regular inspections to ensure full compliance with legal provisions aimed at preventing female foeticide.
A comprehensive review of applications and compliance status of ultrasound centres was conducted in the presence of Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal, ACMO Dr. Jogeshwar Prasad, DRCHO Dr. Ranjit Panda, and other committee members. Five applications for new ultrasound machines, three for registration renewals, two for new registrations, six for adding doctors, one for relocation, and one for machine demonstration were assessed.
After detailed scrutiny, the committee approved three cases for new machines, two renewals of registration, two new registrations, six additions of doctors, one relocation, and one machine demonstration, subject to the completion of necessary formalities. The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that installing machines without official permission is strictly prohibited and ensured that all renewals must be processed within the prescribed time frame.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed all concerned officials to achieve 100% compliance with the PC-PNDT Act, emphasising that any sex-selection practices would attract strict legal action. He directed that warning boards highlighting the ban on sex determination must be prominently displayed at all centres. Regular inspection reports, Form-T updates, and online submissions should be completed without delay.
He added that strict enforcement, routine monitoring, and continuous awareness efforts are vital to preventing female foeticide and maintaining a healthy sex ratio in the district.
