Jamshedpur: On the martyrdom day of national leader Lala Lajpat Rai, the social organisation Naman organised a solemn tribute meeting in Sakchi, honouring the immortal martyr whose life continues to inspire generations. Representatives of various social organisations, dignitaries, and members of the Naman family joined in large numbers to pay their respects and reaffirm their commitment to creating a drug-free society.
Speaking on the occasion, Naman founder Amarpreet Singh Kale said that Lala Lajpat Rai was not only a freedom fighter but an eternal symbol of sacrifice, dedication, and national pride. He expressed concern over the growing menace of drug abuse in Jamshedpur, warning that it is weakening the future of both society and the youth. Kale called for a collective anti-drug movement involving families, society, and the administration.
Senior journalist Brijbhushan Singh said Lala Lajpat Rai’s sacrifice gave a new direction to India’s freedom struggle. He emphasised that society today needs the same determination and willpower to eradicate drug addiction. Highlighting the crucial role of the media, he said that responsible journalism must contribute to awareness and social responsibility. He described Naman’s drug-de-addiction pledge as an inspiring step for the welfare of the city.
Senior journalist Jaiprakash Rai said that Lala Lajpat Rai’s ideals—truth, courage, and national interest—remain as relevant today as ever. He stressed the importance of guiding the young generation with the right values and making the creation of a drug-free society a collective responsibility.
Addressing the gathering, Varun Kumar and other speakers from the Ex-Servicemen Service Council warned that the rising trend of drug addiction poses a grave threat to the future of society. They appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and work towards strengthening the nation.
Other participants, including Ramkeval Mishra, Neeru Singh, Jugun Pandey, Jasbir Kaur, Swati Mitra, Raju Singh, Ritika Srivastava, Mamta Saha, Sarabjit Singh Toby, Mahalakshmi Devi, Komal Thakur, and many more, paid tribute to Lala Lajpat Rai and united in their resolve to make Jamshedpur drug-free.
Several respected citizens, including Akhilesh Pandey, Beauty Tiwari, D Mani, Simi Kashyap, Mamta Pushti, Kanchan Devi, Shukla Halder, Pinky Vishwas, Mayadevi, and Snehlata Sinha, were also present on the occasion, lending their support to the cause.
