Two-day bank strike from today, employees� unions take our protest rally

Jamshedpur: The banking sector may only see a shutdown on the two-day general strike called by central trade unions on January 8 and 9, a banking union official said Monday.
The call for General Strike given by the National Trade Union Convention organized by 10 Central Trade Unions viz. INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICTU, LPF and UTUC will see participation of 15 crore workers all over the country from various sectors.
“We have already informed our units that besides AIBEA giving the call the join the countrywide General Strike on 8th and 9th, 2019 against the anti-people economic policies and anti-worker labour policies of the Central Government, All India Insurance Employees Association (AIIEA), General Insurance Employees All India Association (GIEAIA), Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) and All India LIC Employees Federation (AILICEF) have also given the call to join the strike. Hence we have given the call to hold joint demonstrations, rallies, etc. along with these organisations”, said CH Venkatachalam, general secretary, All India Bank Employees Association.
He informed that the entire working class and trade union movement has risen in protest against the increasing attacks on the common masses and working people due to the pro-rich, pro-corporate policies of the Government.
On the eve of the strike, bank unions on Monday took out protest rally in favour of their demands at Bistupur and Sakchi and also staged demonstration.
