Jamshedpur, Oct 19: Mango police arrested two men involved in demanding Rs 2 lakh as extortion from a local businessman. The accused, Himanshu Tiwari (21) from Garhwa Dumria and Yuvraj Kumar Singh (19) from Burmamines Station Road, were apprehended near Telco Ram Mandir after tracking their mobile locations. City SP Kumar Shivashish revealed that a special raid team was formed under the leadership of the SSP, which successfully caught the culprits. Two mobile phones used in the crime were also seized.

The extortion attempt began on October 17, when businessman Banwari Lal Gupta received threatening calls from two different mobile numbers, demanding Rs 2 lakh and threatening to kidnap his son if not paid. Gupta initially sent Rs 5,000 out of fear but later filed a complaint at Mango police station. Acting swiftly, police tracked down the suspects and arrested them, preventing further extortion. “These criminals were forming a new gang in Jamshedpur, and the police’s quick action has dismantled their operation,” said SP Shivashish. Both suspects have been sent to jail.
