Jamshedpur, November 9: Tata Steel today announced the first-ever Art Residency Programme in the city under the aegis of the Centre for Excellence (CFE) Jamshedpur.
The 12-day Art Residency aims to offer a platform for artistic experimentation and social engagement with a selection of iconic artists in the fields of painting, sculpting and ceramic art. The programme is designed to encourage demonstrations, lectures, workshops, presentations and community interactions with art. The theme for this year�s edition is �Dharti�. The Residency is being curated by Lina Vincent, an art historian and curator from Goa.
In addition to the Padma Shri awardee Paresh Maity, iconic canvas artists like S G Vasudev and Bose Krishnamachari will be a part of this event. Sculpting and ceramics is being introduced for diversity. Renowned sculptors Arun Kumar H G, Veg Prakash Gupta, Dimpy Menon along with ceramic artists Vinod Daroz, Siraj Saxena, Aditi Saraogi, Neha Pullarwar and Arun Mukhuty from Jamshedpur will feature in the proceedings. In alignment with our inclusive philosophy, four tribal artists will also be participating in the programme. The Centre for Excellence will host a total of 21 artists, who will create their art pieces and will also engage with the community and art students through various workshops and talks.

Tata Steel has a long-standing association with arts. Apart from patronising several artists over the years, it also organised �Art in Industry� for the first time at Centre for Excellence in 1993, with 10 artists of national repute. This was a unique platform that connected emerging and eminent artists, youth, art connoisseurs and society at large. The endeavor aimed to foster participation in softer skills and community development.

In keeping with the global trend of art camps, the Company has been successfully bringing together budding artists and eminent figures who have made their mark in the world of art.
Art Residency, which is to be held at the Centre for Excellence from November 10 – 22, 2018, is a wider format of the previously held Art-in-Industry camps.
