Jamshedpur , March 16 : Students of Loyola School on Friday got important tips to make a career in the field of musical theatre. During three-hour workshop organised at Fasy Auditorium,Shillong-based Damenshan Hynniewta conducted the workshop. The event was organised by Dramatics Club of Loyola School.

Damenshan is here in the city conducting day-long workshops at Loyola School and exposing students in theater activities auditions, practice and presentation. He will also be conducting session for Rotary Clubs and other organisations in the city.

Theres something for everyone, from composing to sound engineering. Everyone loves some form of music. For most of us that means listening, lip-sync and strumming the occasional air guitar. But if you want to give music a more central place in your life, this is the right time to give it a shot, he said while addressing students.

He said that several institutions like Raj Kumar College in Rajkot apart from National School of Drama and several universities are offering undergraduate and post graduate degrees in performing arts. There are emerging career opportunities nearer to India in Dubai and gulf countries and also in Australia.

With every child and many adults dabbling in music at some stage or the other in their lives, opportunities to teach music full-time in schools and music academies abound. Music teachers would also manage music performance for their students and often for annual shows by the school or music academy, said a school teacher.

She added that being a musician is very different from doing a day job since there is no predictability when it comes to when and where your next pay-check will come from. Its the ones who stick around and make opportunities for themselves, get out of bed and learn that tune or write a song, who will ultimately make it.

A member of Dramatics Club of Loyola School said that the club noted that the campus of Loyola School has housed many a poet or author, the stage at Fasyplayed host to an actor or a danseuse or seated crowds listening in rapture to fiery speeches. The idea is to help students explore different career opportunities.
