Jamshedpur, March 16 : In view of Ramnavmi procession, East Singhbhum district administration is all set to place a strict security arrangement with a special focus on eve teasing and hooligans.
The administration as part of its security measures has decided to introduce electronic surveillance during Ramnavami procession to keep an eye on rowdy elements, who often create nuisance, during the religious procession especially as it passes through communally sensitive areas. A total of 12 CCTV cameras will be put up during Ramnavami procession on March 26.
In total 159 akharas including 32 unlicensed akharas will take out the procession with religious zeal and fervor and in the wake of the ongoing matriculation examination the administration has appealed to the akharasamities to play music in low decibels.
The administration is equally focusing about the law and order condition in the Maoist infested area. Nonetheless, SSP AnupBirthreyinformed in the meeting that officer in-charge of all the police stations of he district including, city have been asked pull up their shocks in the wake of Ramnavmi festival inching closer.
Moreover movement of heavy vehicles will be stopped on the day of the procession while private vehicles will be restricted in the city after 2pm. “Though, adequate security measures have been made for the Ram Navami procession but we also appeal to the people and akharasamities to cooperate the administration in ensuring peaceful culmination of the nine day festival,” said an official.
“After directions from the district administration we have asked theakhara committees to avoid using glass tubes and kerosene during procession as the two items are very dangerous,” said R B Singh, senior functionary of Central Peace Committee.
Meanwhile, the administration is equally focusing about the law and order condition in the Maoist infested area. “We want to ensure fool proof security arrangements. We have decided to install 12 CCTV cameras on important roads. This would be in addition to the CCTV cameras already installed on roads of Sakchi and Bistupur by the district police to keep an eye on trouble mongers. Recordings would be observed by city police at the police control room,” said the official.
The administration is serious in ensuring first aid and ambulance services during the festivity and the procession. Directives were issued to all the Akharas committees to strictly abide by the rules laid out in their licences especially pertaining to use of loudspeakers (public amplifiers).
The administration has also directed the respective local urban bodies, Jusco and drinking water and sanitation department for arranging water tankers during procession.
A police official said that all police stations have been asked to interact with local akharas committee on a regular basis for a peaceful festival.
