Jamshedpur: A 40 year-old man, identified as Sanoj Sharma, was killed in a road accident at Marine Drive, Sonari, on Thursday.
He was reportedly run over by a speeding truck. He succumbed to critical injuries on the spot. Irked over the incident, local residents blocked the main road for several hours to demand compensation for the next of kin of the deceased and arresting of the errant driver.
The protestors burnt tyres on the road and raised slogans against the traffic police.
Sanoj used to work as a welder under a contractor in the Army Canteen, Sonari. He was a native of Bajrahi in Gaya, Bihar.
