Dhanbad, Sept 20: Following Kurmi community agitation trains movement on Howrah- New Delhi Grand Chord line completely paralyzed in Dhanbad Rail Division of East Central Railway (ECR) zone on Saturday.
The Kurmi agitators squatted at Pradhan Khanta Railway station and Parasnath Railway station at 7 am and blocked the up and down movement of all trains. Though New Delhi- Sealdah Rajdhani Express and new Delhi- Howrah Rajdhani Express crossed timely from Dhanbad , at around 7.30 am protestors , women in large numbers, despite heavy deployment of police force reached Pradhan Khanta railway station and sat on up and down railway tracks.
Sindri SDPO Satyam Kumar was camping at Pradhan Khanta railway station and his negotiation with agitators failed to clear the tracks.
Till 1 pm agitators had been sitting on tracks at Pradhan Khanta railway station. At Parasnath railway station Dumri MLA Jairam Mahto was leading the agitation and disrupted movement on Grand Chord Line completely.
Dhanbad- Alappuzha Alleppey Express ( 13351) which start from Dhanbad per day at 11.35 am , will kick off at 6.30 pm today if normal traffic is restored, said official of Dhanbad Rail Division.
The rail divisional official s said that several trains have been diverted to avoid traffic blockade at Parasnath and Pradhan Khanta stations.
