Tragic End to Youth’s Life in Hazaribagh: Drug Addiction Claims Three Friends

Hazaribagh: In a devastating turn of events, the body of Virendra Kumar, a student who went missing on January 6, was discovered by Korra police in a well in Hadari village of Ichak. The young man’s tragic demise has been linked to drug addiction, shedding light on the perilous consequences of substance abuse among Hazaribagh’s youth.

Virendra Kumar, hailing from Kuti PC village in the Ichak police station area, was studying while residing with his father, Vijay Kumar, in Ashok Nagar, Hazaribagh. Vijay Kumar, who operates a cottage shop, reported his son missing to the police on January 8, sparking an investigation that ultimately led to a grim discovery.

Two of Virendra’s friends, Dheeraj and Rishabh, have been apprehended by the police in connection with the case. According to police sources, the friends have confessed to strangling Virendra with a towel and discarding his body in the well, revealing the sinister role of drug addiction in this tragic incident.
Vijay Kumar, in his complaint to the police, highlighted his son’s sudden disappearance and the lack of information about his whereabouts even on the day he went missing. The father noted that Virendra would often leave without informing the family of his plans, but he would eventually return. The investigation proved challenging until the technical cell, with considerable effort, traced one of Virendra’s friends named Dheeraj, a resident of Deepu Gadha.

During Dheeraj’s interrogation, he divulged information about his accomplice Rishabh, leading to the latter’s arrest. While two friends are currently in custody, authorities suspect the involvement of additional individuals in the incident, prompting ongoing investigations.
All three friends, including the deceased, were students at GM College. The heartbreaking turn of events underscores the rapid proliferation of drug abuse among Hazaribagh’s youth, resulting in the ruin of promising futures. The incident serves as a poignant warning to both young individuals and their parents about the dangers of drug addiction.
Nishi Choubey, the in-charge of the police station, emphasized the role of drugs in the tragedy.
