‘Leave Now if You Wish’: Mamata Issues Ultimatum to Rebellious TMC Leaders

Kolkata (IANS): Following the Trinamool Congress’s recent defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, party supremo and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has issued an ultimatum to internal dissidents: leave the party immediately if you lack commitment during this crisis.

Banerjee delivered the clear message during a closed-door review meeting on Monday to dissect the party’s election loss.

“Pure Gold Assets” Will Rebuild the Party

An anonymous Trinamool leader who attended the session revealed that Banerjee refused to waste energy holding back fence-sitters.

“The former Chief Minister made it absolutely clear that anyone thinking of quitting the Trinamool Congress can do so right away. She will not make the slightest effort to stop them,” the leader stated. “She emphasized that those who stand by the party during this crisis will emerge as ‘pure gold assets,’ and she will rebuild the Trinamool Congress with them.”

Banerjee also firmly re-established her dominance, declaring herself the absolute final authority on all organizational matters. She ordered leaders to vent any grievances strictly within party forums rather than running to the media or making public statements.

Action Plan: Public Outreach and Post-Poll Violence Relief

To counter the party’s post-election slump, Banerjee rolled out a series of direct administrative and political directives:

  • Outreach Blueprint: She ordered the party leadership to submit a detailed report within seven days to blueprint new, localized public outreach programs.
  • Ground-Level Mobilization: She directed leaders to immediately launch block, town, and area-level meetings to adapt to the state’s altered political landscape.
  • Displacement Tracking: Banerjee instructed district leaders to compile a list of party workers allegedly displaced by post-poll violence and submit it directly to her Kalighat residence-cum-office.
  • Legal Aid: She entrusted former West Bengal Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya to oversee and execute legal assistance for these displaced individuals.
