Jamshedpur, June 15: In a concerted effort to tackle the city’s persistent traffic congestion, the district administration and police have launched a special enforcement and awareness campaign aimed at improving road discipline and ensuring smoother vehicular movement.
As part of the initiative, City SP Lalit Meena personally inspected key traffic bottlenecks on Monday, including Sakchi roundabout, Basant Talkies, Sagar Hotel area, and several stretches in Golmuri where roadside parking frequently leads to traffic snarls.

During the inspection, the City SP cautioned vehicle owners against parking on roads and public thoroughfares. He said that while the current phase focuses on public awareness, strict punitive action will be taken against violators in the coming days.

According to officials, the issue of worsening traffic congestion was prominently discussed during a recent Disha Committee meeting, following which the Deputy Commissioner directed authorities to initiate a comprehensive drive to make the city congestion-free.
The campaign will include checks on modified vehicles, action against vehicles with black-tinted windows, enforcement against illegal roadside parking, and intensified monitoring of traffic rule violations.

Meanwhile, the team of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) also conducted enforcement action, fining a auto driver Rs 200 for improper parking on the roadside.
Authorities said the impact of the campaign is already visible in Sakchi, where roads that routinely witnessed heavy congestion are now comparatively clearer, improving traffic flow and commuter convenience.

Officials have indicated that the drive will be intensified in the coming days to curb illegal parking and strengthen overall traffic management across the city.
