Three arrested for looting truck from Marine Drive, truck recovered

Jamshedpur, Jan. 13: A police team arrested three men accused of looting a truck (GT10TT / 9657) from Marine Drive Road under Sonari Police Station, on Wednesday, said Senior Superintendent of Police, Anoop T Mathew.

The police arrested Dheeraj Jha, PremShankar Singh and Suresh Mahato. The accused after looting the truck on December 30 at around 11 pm tied the hands and legs of truck driver and Khalasi and threw them near Surya Mandir in Bundu.

Talking to the media persons at Sonari Police Station on Wednesday, Senior SP said, a team of five police officers headed by Amar Kumar Pandey, DSP (Headquarter II) conducted several raids and arrested Dheeraj Jha and PremShankar Singh who during interrogation accepted the crime and said that total of five people committed the crime and changed the number plate of White Indica (used for committing crime) from JH05AH-1098 to OD 05AB-1988.

Narrating the story, SSP said, the culprits took the truck to Hazaribag and sold it to Suresh Mahato, resident of Charhi in Hazaribag district for Rs 8 lakh. They took 50 thousand as advance and after cutting 5 thousand as expenses and remaining 45 thousand were distributed among 5 accused.

The truck was taken to Daru named place in Hazaribag and was kept in the garage and its appearance was changed and the number plate was changed from GT10TT / 9657 to CG04DL-8154.

When Suresh Mahato received the information about the arrest of Dheeraj and Prem Shankar, he took the truck to Dumri in Giridih district near Line Hotel.

Later Suresh Mahato also accepted the truth. Three accused have been arrested while others are still at large. The looted truck was also recovered, added SSP.
