Jamshedpur, Oct 24 : In a shocking incident, unknown thieves broke into the house of Mohammad Halim Khan, also known as Raju, in Line No. 2, Makhdampur Road, Parsudih, last night.
The burglars forced entry by breaking the window grille and ransacked a box in one of the rooms, stealing gold and silver jewelry worth approximately Rs 1.5–2 lakh, along with around Rs 20,000 in cash.
The household discovered the theft early Friday morning when Mohammad Halim noticed the broken box and scattered belongings outside the house.
His son, Mohammad Tausif, stated that the stolen valuables belonged to their grandmother and other family members, representing years of family savings.
The incident has left the family in shock, while neighbours expressed fear and anger over the brazen robbery.
Mohammad Halim immediately informed the police, who arrived at the spot and began an investigation.
Authorities are examining nearby CCTV footage and searching for suspects, while locals have demanded increased night patrols and stronger security measures to prevent similar crimes in the future.
