BJP Dominates Gujarat Local Polls; Dy CM Harsh Sanghavi Alleges ‘Outside Funding’ During Campaign

Ahmedabad (IANS): Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi hailed the BJP’s performance in the local self-government elections during a ‘Vijay Utsav’ program on Tuesday. While celebrating the party’s victory across municipal corporations and local bodies, Sanghavi alleged that external forces attempted to influence the rural vote by bringing in funds from outside the state to mislead farmers.

Sweep Across Regions

The BJP secured a dominant position across North Gujarat, South Gujarat, Central Gujarat, and Saurashtra. Addressing party workers at the victory event, Sanghavi attributed the success to a collective effort between the party and the citizens.

“Saffron has been waved in every corner of Gujarat,” he stated. “Today’s victory is not just for BJP workers; it is a victory for all the citizens of Gujarat.”

Diverse Candidate Selection

Sanghavi highlighted the party’s inclusive approach to candidate selection, noting that the BJP fielded individuals from varied professional and social backgrounds.

• Grassroots Representatives: Tickets were also given to a rickshaw driver and a bangle seller, reflecting a broad-based social bond with the electorate.

Allegations of External Influence

Despite the win, the Deputy Chief Minister reiterated concerns over the campaign period. He claimed that while farmers faced challenges, specific groups brought in outside funding to disturb rural sentiment and spread misinformation.

He commended party workers for remaining “firmly on the ground” despite severe heat and political pressure to ensure the party’s organizational structure translated into a grassroots victory. Sanghavi concluded by urging workers to maintain close engagement with citizens to address local concerns effectively.
