The Milanee’s glorious march through 108 years

Jamshedpur, Feb 4: The 108th year of The Milanee in Bistupur was celebrated in traditional manner. Club president Shekhar Dey hoisted the Club Flag in the presence of general secretary Dipankar Dutta and joint secretary Krishnendu Chatterjee among others.

An edifice of Jamshedpur culture, The Milanee has hosted iconic artistes in the realms of music, dance and theatre. Among the legends who have left their imprints on The Milanee stage include actors Prithvi Raj Kapoor, Jahar Ganguly, Chhabi Biswas, Robi Ghosh and Soumitra Chatterjee, sitar maestros Pandit Ravi Shankar, Indranil Bhattacharya to name a few, sarode wizards Asish Khan and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan Bangash and vocalists of international repute. The late night classical music soirees of yester years have left an indelible mark in memory lane. Even the inimitable Birendra Krishna Bhadra had visited the hallowed premises of cultural pursuit in the mid 1960s.

A cake was cut on the occasion of the 108th year celebrations. Songs were performed by the Club’s Sur Sangam group. Candles were lit in memory of members who had died. Later in the evening, prizes were distributed among winners of various competitions organized earlier.
