Telco Police Station hosts Peace Committee Meeting

Jamshedpur: In preparation for the upcoming Eid ul Azha (Bakrid) festival, a Peace Committee meeting was held at the Telco Police Station premises under the chairmanship of Police Inspector cum Station Incharge Shailendra Kumar. The meeting aimed to maintain peace and harmony in the area during the festival, which is celebrated for its themes of renunciation, dedication, sacrifice, and exclusive devotion by followers of Islam.

Prominent attendees included senior Congress leader  Ramashray Prasad,  Riyazuddin Khan, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former president of the Women’s Commission  Kalyani Sharan, DD Tripathi, Omprakash Upadhyay, Om Prakash Singh, Nisar Ahmed, Imtiaz Ahmed, Santosh Singh, Rajesh Singh Raju, Parvez, and Alam Taj. They were joined by police officer Mohammad Salim, SI  Sharma, Tata Nagar area’s special officer  Mukesh Kumar, and Tata Motors company’s officer  Trivedi, who were present to ensure the smooth arrangement of basic necessities such as electricity, water, roads, and traffic in the mosques on the day of the festival.

Addressing the gathering,  Ramashray Prasad and  Riyazuddin Khan highlighted the unique nature of Eid ul Azha compared to other festivals such as Eid, Moharram, Holi, and Durga Puja. They emphasized that antisocial elements might misuse the festival’s significance to spread hatred and disrupt peace and order. Therefore, they called for various precautions to be taken while celebrating this holi festival of sacrifice.

They stressed the importance of ensuring that no prohibited animals are sacrificed and that the waste material from the sacrifices is disposed of properly. This includes burying the waste in designated pits to prevent stray dogs from accessing it. Mr. Khan explained that the sacrificial goat is traditionally divided into three parts: one for the poor, one for personal use, and one for relatives. He advised that the meat should be properly packed in plastic while being transported to prevent rumors and misunderstandings.

Kalyani Sharan, Om Prakash Upadhyay, DD Tripathi, and Om Prakash Singh also addressed the meeting, urging the Muslim community to celebrate the festival with decency and harmony. They appealed for cooperation from all to ensure that the festival proceeds without any incidents.

The meeting was conducted by senior peace committee member Nandlal Singh, with Abhay Singh delivering the vote of thanks. Other notable attendees included Pankaj Singh, Chinna Rao, Balram Rajak, Sonu Singh, Upendra Tiwari, Laila Tiwari, and Ritesh Sharan, who were specially present to lend their support to the peace initiatives.
