Tatanagar to get Vande Bharat train on Varanasi, Bilaspur routes

Jamshedpur: The Union Budget this year has laid significant emphasis on the inclusion of modern trains like Vande Bharat Sleeper, Vande Metro, and Bullet Train in the Indian Railways network. This development will pave the way for the operation of Vande Bharat trains on the Tatanagar-Varanasi and Tatanagar-Bilaspur routes.

Passengers traveling from Tatanagar to Varanasi and Bilaspur will soon get the convenience of two more Vande Bharat Express trains. The new Vande Bharat services are expected to start from April, with the survey work for both routes already completed. Considering the high passenger demand from Tatanagar to cities in Uttar Pradesh and Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, the Railways has initiated preparations at the departmental level.

The proposed Vande Bharat Express will run between Tatanagar-Varanasi and Tatanagar-Bilaspur, aiming to enhance connectivity and reduce travel time. Although no formal announcement has been made, railway officials suggest that both trains could be operational by April.

Proposed Schedule for Tatanagar-Varanasi Route

The Tatanagar-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express survey has been completed, and a proposed timetable has gone viral. According to the draft schedule, the train will leave Tatanagar in the morning, reach Varanasi by afternoon, and return from Varanasi in the afternoon, arriving at Tatanagar at night. The proposed route for this train will be via Purulia, Bokaro, Gomo, Gaya, and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction.

The Tatanagar-Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express is expected to operate via Chakradharpur, Rourkela, and Jharsuguda. Many people from Chhattisgarh live in Jamshedpur, which will make this train service highly beneficial. Currently, trains going towards Maharashtra from Tatanagar are often crowded, making the introduction of this new service essential to meet passenger demand.

Existing Vande Bharat Services from Tatanagar

At present, two Vande Bharat Express trains originate from Tatanagar: the Tatanagar-Patna Vande Bharat Express and the Tatanagar-Brahmapur Vande Bharat Express. Additionally, two other Vande Bharat trains pass through Tatanagar—the Ranchi-Howrah Vande Bharat Express and the Rourkela-Howrah Vande Bharat Express.

The upcoming Vande Bharat trains will further boost connectivity and improve travel experiences for passengers in the region.

Meanwhile, the budget has also focused on improving railway safety and infrastructure. A major highlight is the implementation of the Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, known as Kavach, on the Howrah-Mumbai rail route to prevent accidents. Funds have been allocated for the installation of this system, along with provisions for new lines and advanced equipment for safer operations. An automatic signal system will be installed from Tata to Kharagpur to further improve safety and efficiency.
