Tatanagar: Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express to halt at Chandil

Jamshedpur: In a significant development, the Indian Railways has issued an official notification, confirming the continuous stoppage of the Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express at Chandil Junction station. This decision comes after an initial experimental period of six months during which the train had been making intermittent stops at Chandil.

Before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Purushottam Express regularly halted at Chandil Junction railway station. However, due to the pandemic and the suspension of train services, this stoppage was temporarily discontinued. It was only after persistent public demand and appeals, including one from BJP MP Sanjay Seth, that the government decided to reinstate the stoppage for this important train.

Initially, the stoppage was set to last until October 28, with ticket bookings halted. However, thanks to the efforts of individuals like Diwakar Singh, a member of the Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee, who engaged with Adra Railway Division officials, a positive response was received. This has led to the gratifying outcome of the Purushottam Express now having a permanent stoppage at Chandil Junction, benefitting passengers and the local community alike.
