Jamshedpur, March 15: Tata Workers’ Union on Friday observed ‘Martyrs Day’ in memory of five employees who lost their lives on March 15, 1920. Members of the executive committee paid homage to the martyrs who were gunned down by mounted police on March 15, 1920.
Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President, Shailesh Kumar Singh, Deputy President, Shahnawaz Alam, Vice President, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Vice President, Sanjeev Tiwary, Vice President, Rajiv Kumar Choudhary, Vice President, Ajay Kumar Chaudhury, Assist. Secretary, Shaym Babu, Asst. Secretary, Amod Dubey, Treasurer & Accountant, Jaideo Upadhyay, Director – MJC and a large number of executive committee members and Union staff were present and paid floral tributes to the portrait of five employees in the Union premises.
According to reports, mounted police fired indiscriminately on protesting workers of TISCO (later Tata Steel) in which five of them Liladhar Chaubey, Raghunath Bhuinya, Damru Lohar, Seva Singh and Kalun Mata were martyred.
