Jamshedpur, May 29: The Tata Steel Utilities and Services Shramik Union (formerly Jusco Shramik Union) has revised its election framework, reducing the number of constituencies from 15 to 13. Elections will now be conducted for 17 committee member posts across these 13 constituencies.
The final list of constituencies was published on Wednesday evening by Election Officer C.S. Jha and members of the Election Conducting Committee, Ashwini Mathan and Saroj Pandey. Following a round of claims and objections, the constituencies were restructured, most notably, the three seats previously allotted to Town Electricals have now been reduced to just one.
Of the 10 objections submitted by the stipulated deadline, nine were accepted and one was rejected.
Draft voter list released
The draft voter list was published on Thursday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at the union office. Members can submit claims and objections regarding the voter list on May 30 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The current union membership stands at approximately 642.
Final constituency breakdown
The finalized list outlined 13 constituencies as follows:
- Public Health Department – 2 seats
- DGBR, Finance & Accounts – 1 seat
- Water Works Office, Waste Water – 1 seat
- Water Distribution, NRW, Dimna Complex – 2 seats
- People Function, DETP, EPC, EPC Amenities, Safety, Utilities Billing – 1 seat
- Town Electricals – 3 seats
- Horticulture Services, Procurement, Jamshedpur Town Operations, Town Services – 1 seat
- FMC, Admin, MD Office – 1 seat
- CMG-Electrical, CMG-Instrumentation, CMG-Mechanical, Water Quality Lab, Waste Water Network – 1 seat
- RPH – 1 seat
- SK Power Distribution – 1 seat
- Water Works – 1 seat
- Integrated Customer Services – 1 seat
The revised election structure aimed to better represent the union’s various departments and streamline the election process.
