Jamshedpur, June 19: The Inter Divisional Chess Tournament 2026, organized by Tata Steel Limited, concluded with a prize distribution and closing ceremony.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from 87 players representing 16 units of Tata Steel, including three female participants. The competition was conducted smoothly under the supervision of five officials.
Das Bhola Nath of Tata Steel UISL emerged as the champion of the tournament. Abhishek Jha of TSJ Operations secured the runner-up position, while Sanjay Kumar Swain of TSK finished as the second runner-up.
Hitesh Hasmukhrai Shah, Chief, LD3 & TSCR, Tata Steel Limited, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest and distributed prizes to the winners. Vivek Kudva, Head, Mechanical Maintenance, Sinter Plant, Tata Steel, was present as the Guest of Honour.
Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief, Sports, Tata Steel, and Capt. Manish Sinha, Head, Events & Training Centres, Tata Steel, also attended the event and appreciated the participants for their sportsmanship and competitive spirit.
The officials of the event included Jayant Kumar Bhuyan, Soukhin Kundu, Deepak Kumar Jha, Anup Kumar Singh and Tilak Ram Sahu – for their efforts in ensuring the fair and seamless conduct of the tournament.
