Tata Steel taking initiative towards sustainable development: VP Chanakya Chaudhary

 

Jamshedpur, Feb 27: Tata Steel Vice President (Corporate Services) Chanakya Chaudhary on Tuesday underscored the company’s unwavering commitment towards sustainable development.

Addressing a session on ‘Jharkhand towards a Competitive and Sustainable India@100’ organised by CII Jharkhand at a city hotel, Chaudhary said, “Steel plays crucial role in nation’s advancement but keeping the future in mind, we are taking sustainable approach towards manufacturing steel as Tata Steel has been proactive in ensuring a sustainable future.”

Notably, the company is poised to double its production capacity to meet the surging demand for steel while prioritizing environmentally conscious practices.

Chaudhary detailed the ongoing initiatives of the company, highlighting the incorporation of scrap in blast furnace operations, the utilization of hydrogen, and the adoption of carbon capture methods aimed at a substantial reduction in carbon emissions. These strategic measures align seamlessly with Tata Steel’s overarching vision for responsible production.

Tata Steel VP further said, “Once the trials are successful the company will envision the seamless integration of these eco-friendly practices into its commercial operations, thereby making significant strides toward fostering sustainable development within the steel industry.”
