Tata Steel Jamshedpur organises Zero Toppling Campaign

Jamshedpur, April 7: Tata Steel organised the closing ceremony of the Zero Toppling Campaign in virtual mode on Wednesday. The campaign was run to focus on the Cranes, Dumpers and Mobile equipment related safety incidents with the objective to eliminate such incidents in company’s operating units, with the aim to eliminate toppling incidents.

The virtual closing ceremony was graced by Vice President Safety Health & Sustainability, Sanjiv Paul and Vice President TQM and Engineering and Projects, Avneesh Gupta.  Officers, employees and vendor partners also joined virtually.

In his address, Avneesh Gupta expressed concern about the recent spate of crane related incidents. He appreciated the efforts taken by employees by way of specific interventions, besides stressing on the need to continuously sensitise our employees and drivers about the safety measures and precautions to be taken. He also emphasised on the need for focussing on construction sites and operating units- where site conditions changes day by day. He further added that this should be taken as a concerted effort – and a new start of our safety journey towards achieving “Zero Harm” and “Zero Toppling Incidents”.

Sanjiv Paul stressed on the need of Zero Tolerance to any safety violations. He insisted on the strict adherence of Safety Rules, Standards and regulations and this could help in minimizing toppling incidents of mobile equipment. He further added the importance of escalating issues and ensure Zero tolerance for any safety violation. “Then only we would achieve our objective of “Zero Harm”, he expressed the Company’s aspirations. 

Rajib Mishra, Head Construction Safety, TSK & OMQ Projects set the context while giving details about the initiatives taken during the campaign to sensitize, train and audit the workplaces besides seamless communication with employees on the crane related safety issues. He further explained about the new Initiatives taken during the campaign to increase awareness among employees and drivers.

Anil Kumar Shukla, Chief Construction Safety, E&P proposed formal vote of thanks, besides highlighting the various activities organised during the campaign.

The virtual event drew enthusiastic participation of more than 350employees representing all locations of Tata Steel.
