Tata Steel Jamshedpur employees to get hiked fuel allowance

Jamshedpur, July 8: The long pending agreement over petrol allowance was finally made between Tata Steel management and Tata Workers Union on Friday. It was signed by Vice President Atrayee Sanyal, Chief (Group HR & IR) Zubin Palia, Head Rahul Dubey, TWU president Sanjeev Choudhary, deputy president Shailesh Singh and general secretary Satish Kumar Singh. Around 13,000 employees would be benefitted by the scheme which has come into effect from 1^st April 2022. The employees would also get the allowance arrear from April to July, sources said.

Sources said the talks over petrol allowance were held several times earlier. The petrol allowance has been increased from Rs 425 to Rs 550.

Associate grade employees who have only cycle will now get a subsidy of Rs 540 from Rs 420 earlier.

Petrol allowance of two wheeler employees has increased from Rs 1500 to Rs 1925 per month, whereas for supervisors the allowance has increased from 1550 to 1975.

Car fuel allowance for employees and supervisors has also been increased. For employees it has been increased from 2050 to 2550, while for supervisors it has been increased from Rs 2250 to Rs 2750 per month.

For two-wheelers the fuel allowance has been increased to Rs. 425 and Rs. 500 for cars.

Similarly, the cycle subsidy of service and pharma hand employees along with NS grade employees has also been increased from Rs.420 to Rs.540.

Rs 475 has been increased in the allowance of NS grade employees who have two wheelers. 550 per month has been increased for the car fuel allowance. Employees will get arrears of fuel allowance from the month of April.

The agreement would remain effective till 31st March 2027, sources said.
