Jamshedpur, Dec 17: After the successful implosion of Model Repair Shop and the obsolete Battery#5 Chimney on September 4 and November 27 respectively, Tata Steel will undertake scheduled controlled implosions of an obsolete Battery #6 Chimney and a common Coal Tower of Battery#5 and Battery#6 at Coke Plant tomorrow (December 18) afternoon, said a company communique.
“These controlled implosions will be carried out with advanced technology to have minimum environmental impact and to ensure no damage to personnel, plant and equipment by our contract partner, Edifice Engineering, India, supported by Jet Demolition South Africa, both of whom have the requisite expertise and global experience for carrying out such implosions under controlled and environment friendly conditions,” said a company spokesperson, adding further, “All necessary approvals and NOCs have been secured from the relevant authorities. Emergency preparedness plan and evacuation procedures are in place. Security will be deployed in the relevant area to cordon it off to prevent any unauthorized access of personnel for their safety, for a period of two hours before and after the planned event.”
