Jamshedpur, August 18: Hari Singh Rajput, founder of Voice of Humanity and an engineer at Tata Steel, brought joy to four orphaned sisters in Bankati Tola of Chaliyama village, Nimdih block, located 45 km from Jamshedpur, by becoming their brother on Rakshabandhan eve. These sisters, aged 15, 13, 11, and 9, lost their parents four years ago, leaving the eldest sister, Kandri Singh, to care for her younger siblings by working as a labourer while ensuring they continue their education.
Moved by their plight, Hari Singh decided to step in and support the girls. Traveling from Jamshedpur, he visited the village on Rakshabandhan eve, where the four sisters tied rakhis on his wrist, symbolizing the bond of brotherhood. To brighten their lives, Hari and his friends gifted the sisters new bicycles, school bags, notebooks, and chocolates, bringing smiles to their faces. The villagers, witnessing the gesture, remarked that it was the first time in a long while that the girls appeared so happy.
Hari Singh expressed that he had been deeply saddened by the situation of the sisters and felt compelled to help. His visit on Rakshabandhan eve was not just to celebrate the festival but also to ensure that the girls’ education continues uninterrupted. He pledged to support their education in the future, with the aim of helping them become self-reliant. Accompanying him were his friends Ranjan Singh, Mohit Singh, and Abhishek Jha, who shared in the joy of bringing hope to these young lives.
