Tarlok Singh Chauhan sworn in as Jharkhand HC’s 17th Chief Justice

Ranchi, July 23: Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan was sworn in as the 17th Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court during a ceremony at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office and secrecy. The event was attended by senior judicial officers, high court judges, veteran advocates, political dignitaries, and administrative officials.

A native of Himachal Pradesh, Justice Chauhan served as a senior judge at the Himachal Pradesh High Court before his elevation. With over three decades of judicial experience, he is renowned for his impartial judgments and deep legal expertise. Justice Chauhan completed his schooling in Shimla and earned his law degree from Panjab University. He began his legal career as an advocate in 1989, practising in constitutional, civil, and administrative law. In 2014, he was appointed a judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

Throughout his tenure, Justice Chauhan has delivered numerous significant rulings marked by transparency and promptness in public interest matters. His appointment as Chief Justice is expected to bolster the judicial system in Jharkhand and reinforce public trust in the legal process.
