Jamshedpur, May 8: The region�s epicenter of culture and cultural pursuits, The Tagore Society organized a simple ceremony to commemorate World Poet or �Vishwa Kobi� Rabindranath Tagore�s 159th birth anniversary today. Tagore Society President Dr HS Paul and General Secretary Ashis Chowdhury garlanded the statue of the poet and made flower offerings. Principal of Tagore School of Arts, Chandana Chowdhury rendered a composition of the poet in her mellifluous voice in tribute to Rabindranath.

In view of the prevailing pandemic situation and in accordance with lockdown norms, no outstation artistes like singers, musicians and dancers were invited. Connoisseurs and addicts of Tagore creations were not in the list of invitees for the same reasons.
In his brief address, The Tagore Society General Secretary Ashis Chowdhury observed, �Kobi Guru was a nature lover which trait reflected on his painted canvases, poems, lyrics, dance compositions and on his written treatises. Nature continues to play a significant role in our lives. It is this nature that will protect us with motherly care against the threat of COVID-19. We Indians will defeat the threat jointly by respecting nature and abiding by lockdown norms.�
