Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum unit of Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) has urged the Indian government to refrain from signing the accord on regional cooperation, RCEP. A letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard was handed by the SJM delegation to the Deputy Commissioner. The letter contended that if the accord was signed expectedly in November it would have a negative effect on the national economy especially in the agriculture and dairy sectors.
The Manch warned the government that if the regional cooperation accord was signed then it would be forced to intensify its protest. The delegation stated that the government was bracing up to sign the RCEP involving 15 countries that would see to the abolition of import duty on 80 to 95 percent of goods coming into the country.
The SJM delegation that handed over the letter addressed to the Prime Minister to the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner included Bandeshankar Singh, Rajkumar Sah, Amit Mishra, Rajpati Devi, Ramanand Lal, Raushan Singh, Santosh Sahu, Sanjana Sahu, Shukla Haldhar, Anita Singh, Arvinder Kaur, Sanjit Singh, Vandana, Ajay Gupta, Surendra Singh, Rakesh Mukhi, Sujay Kumar and others.
