Surya Mandir committee committed to follow COVID norms during Chhat

Jamshedpur, Nov 13: Former Chief Minister Raghubar Das in reply to SDO’s (Dhalbhum) letter has reiterated the Surya Mandir Committee’s commitment to COVID-19 protocols while allowing devotee to perform Chhat Puja rituals at the Chhat ghats in the temple complex. He explained in his letter that in the course of a meeting after the Vijaya Milan function, he had attended the committee meeting in his capacity as patron and it was decided during that meeting that Chhat devotees would be provided all facilities as per COVID norms including wearing of masks and implementation of social distancing. He refuted that the information regarding distribution of coupons and prashad was misguiding and that no such guidelines had been issued.

Raghubar Das also mentioned in his letter to the SDO (Dhalbhum) that he had in fact written to the state Chief minister urging him to issue guidelines on observance of Chhat Puja and mentioned that organizing Chhat Puja paraphernalia would be undertaken by the Surya Mandir Committee only after receipt of the state government’s COVID guidelines pertaining to Chhat Puja observance.
