Saudi coalition downs 3 drones as Houthis target key airport and airbase

The Saudi-led military coalition intercepted and destroyed three explosive-laden drones over Saudi Arabian territory, official sources confirmed on Wednesday.
Coalition spokesman Turki Al-Maliki announced that defense forces shot down one drone over the western Mecca region.
Forces later neutralized two additional drones over the Eastern Province and the southern region.
Meanwhile, Yemen’s Houthi group claimed responsibility for executing multi-pronged military operations against Saudi infrastructure.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea stated that forces launched a drone strike targeting Abha International Airport in the Asir region.
Sarea claimed the strike successfully disrupted regular air traffic operations at the regional airport facility.
The group also launched a ballistic missile targeting King Khalid Air Base located in Khamis Mushait.
Sarea asserted that the missile hit its intended target directly inside the strategic airbase premises.
Independent sources could not immediately verify the reported casualties or property damages.
Inside Yemen, Houthi forces launched ballistic missiles at government positions in Lahj province near the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Sarea claimed these strikes inflicted dozens of casualties on pro-government personnel.
Another missile barrage targeted military forces in Al-Jawf province along the Saudi border.
The group claimed the attack destroyed several military vehicles and caused heavy enemy casualties.
Separately, a Houthi military official issued a stern warning to international investors holding shares in Saudi Aramco.
The official cautioned that the oil giant’s facilities remain direct targets within range of Houthi weaponry.
These tactical escalations mark an intensifying phase in Yemen’s protracted armed conflict.
Fighting has flared across multiple ground fronts alongside escalating aerial bombardments.
The war began in late 2014 after Houthi forces seized control of the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.
The Saudi-led coalition intervened in 2015 to support the internationally recognized government.
