Sub-Inspector shoots himself, critical condition

Patna: In a distressing incident, Sub-Inspector Rashmi Ranjan shot herself with her service revolver in the Airport police station area of Patna. The incident unfolded when residents nearby heard a sudden gunshot emanating from the Sub-Inspector’s residence, prompting them to rush to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered Rashmi Ranjan with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Promptly, the police were informed, and the airport police, upon reaching the location, swiftly transported the injured officer to Paras Hospital in Patna.
As of now, Rashmi Ranjan’s condition is reported to be critical. The sub-inspector, currently serving in Speedy Trial at the Civil Court of Patna, hails from Dev in Aurangabad but resides in a rented house in the Airport police station area of Patna.
Sources indicate that Rashmi Ranjan was under considerable stress due to his involvement in a family dispute case, and this may have contributed to his mental distress in recent days. The morning took a tragic turn when he unexpectedly shot himself.
DSP Sushil Kumar of the Secretariat confirmed that the family of Rashmi Ranjan has been informed about the incident.
