Jamshedpur, Nov 6: State food and civil supplies minister Saryu Roy Wednesday visited Parsudih Mandi to discuss the issue of skyrocketing price of onion and find a way out to bring it down with the help of traders. He said necessary steps would be taken by the state government to reduce the current retail price of onion which was touching the skies due to natural reasons in Maharashtra.

All citizens are aware of the reasons that led to hike in onion prices. There is need to maintain a balance between prices in Maharashtra wholesale markets, Jharkhand wholesale markets and retail markets of Jharkhand. Traders should cooperate with the government. They should not earn more than Rs 5 to Rs 7 on wholesale rates, said Roy.

Roy said the traders of Jamshedpur and other markets of Jharkhand were ready to cooperate with the state government in its efforts to provide relief to common man. He said an increase in volume of onions arriving in the local markets would definitely improve the situation.
