Kolkata, Dec 3: South Eastern Railway (SER) has registered a remarkable rise in its ticket-checking earnings this financial year, reflecting strengthened vigilance and enhanced on-board monitoring. Between April 1 and December 1, 2025, SER recorded Rs 71.77 crore in earnings from ticket-checking drives—up from Rs 45.42 crore in the same period last year—marking an impressive 58% growth.

During the same period, SER detected 10.47 lakh ticketless or irregular travel cases, compared with 8.36 lakh cases last year, showing a 25% increase. The Commercial Department has been conducting regular and intensified checking drives, supported by digital tools and surprise inspections across divisions.
As part of this improved performance, four outstanding Ticket Checking staff were honoured on December 2, 2025, by SER General Manager Anil Kumar Mishra at the Garden Reach headquarters for their dedication and consistent results.
The awardees include Rajesh Kumar Yadav, TTI/Howrah – Detected 1,065 cases, generating Rs 7,14,570, the highest among Amenities Staff, Nandan Kumar, TTI/Ranchi – Detected 3,853 cases, generating Rs 29,80,400, the highest among Squad Staff and Binay Kumar Prasad, TTI/Ranchi – Detected 3,530 cases, generating Rs 26,01,815, the highest among Open Movement Staff.
• Debasish Sanfui, Sr. Commercial Clerk-cum-Ticket Clerk/Shalimar – Detected 916 cases, generating Rs 9,16,540, the highest among Station Staff.
SER officials said the sustained vigilance drive will continue to ensure revenue protection and promote responsible travel among passengers.
