South Eastern Railway organizes ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ at six stations of Kharagpur, Adra Divisions 

Kolkata, May31: South Eastern Railway (SER) organized ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ at six stations of Kharagpur and Adra divisions. The programme was organized as a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations to mark India’s 75 years of independence. The programme was organised at Purulia, Bankura and Bishnupur stations of Adra Division and Kharagpur (South Institute), Jhargram and Digha Stations of Kharagpur Division. Elected representatives at these places interacted with the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes of the central government.

At the national level, ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ was organised at Shimla in Himachal Pradesh in the presence of  Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He interacted through video conferencing with the beneficiaries of the several welfare schemes launched by the central government for economic uplift of people below the poverty line.  The schemes included PM Awas Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, PM Ujjwala Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat and various other schemes.

In West Bengal, the State Level Event was organised at Railway Indoor Stadium in Behala at Kolkata. Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnav was the Chief Guest at the event. Shuvendu Adhikari, Leader of Opposition of West Bengal Legislative Assembly was the Guest of Honour.

The Railway Minister in his address, elucidated on the government’s commitment towards uplift of poor, weak and deprived sections of society through different welfare schemes.

‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ that was organised at Purulia station, MLAs Baneswar Mahato, Narahari Mahato, Sudip Kumar Mukherjee, Kamala Kanta Hansda, Nadiar Chandra Bauri and Sri Vivekananda Bauri were present.

The Garib Kalyan Sammelan organized at Bankura Station, Subhas Sarkar, Minister of State for Education, government of India, was present along with MLAs Chandana Bauri, Satyanarayan Mukhopadhyay, Sri Niladri Sekhar Dana and Harakali Protiher.

 The programme at Bishnupur was attended by MP Saumitra Khan along with MLAs Amarnath Sakha, Nirmal Kumar Dhara and Dibakar Gharami.

In the Garib Kalyan Sammelan organised at South Institute, Kharagpur, MP Dilip Ghosh, MLAs Hiran Chatterjee, and Sital Kapat were present. MP Kunar Hembram, was present at Jhargram Station while MLAs Tapasi Mondal, Sumita Sinha, Rabindranath Maity, Santanu Pramanik and Arup Kumar Das, were present at Digha Station.
