Son-in-law of Champai Soren arrested for Samsung service centre attack

Jamshedpur : In a bizarre incident JMM supporters attacked a cell-phone service centre of Samsung at Dhatkidih under Bistupur police station area on Wednesday.�

The attackers ransacked computers and monitors and also attacked the staff members. Two staff of the service centre sustained injuries in the assault by the attackers.�

The violence started over a dispute of repairing of a cell-phone which belonged to Champai’s daughter.

The police reached the site and arrested 19 persons for ransacking the service centre and assaulting the staff at Dhatkidih under Bistupur police station area. Those arrested are supporters of senior JMM leader and former minister Champai Soren and his son-in-law Ajay Sharma.

As the police arrived, most of the attackers managed to flee the spot leaving the four-wheelers they had come in abandoned at the spot.� The police, however, managed to nab 19 of the youths, who included the son-in-law of the JMM leader.

Deputy superintendent of police (crime control room) Jacinta Karketta said that the violence took place over a dispute of repairing of a cell-phone which belonged to Champai’s daughter.

The owner of the cell-phone service centre, Raghubir Singh expressed shock over the incident. He said that the JMM leader’s daughter had a couple of weeks ago had given a cell-phone for getting repaired at the service centre, but it was beyond repairable condition as it had been tampered due to a repairing by a private party.
