Seraikela: In a meeting of the Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCCC), member Manoj Kumar Chaudhary urged the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) to expedite the process of connecting Seraikela district headquarters to the railway network. He emphasized the need to address public inconvenience and fulfill the government’s commitment to linking all district headquarters with railway services.
In his letter to the DRM, Chaudhary also highlighted the slow progress of development work at 15 stations under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Yojana, calling for its acceleration. He further stressed the necessity of constructing a passenger yard at Chaibasa Commissionerate Headquarters, which would enable the rescheduling of certain trains from Tatanagar to Chaibasa.
Additional proposals included running the Jan Shatabdi Express between Howrah and Barbil, train stoppages at Kandra station, expanding the Sini Railway Workshop and introducing a Barbil-Puri train from Chaibasa. A site near Mahalimurup or Veerbans was also suggested for the Gatishakti Cargo Terminal to enhance regional employment opportunities.
Other demands included the repair of market roads under the railway, converting Birbans Halt into a station, launching new train services from Rairangpur to Bhubaneswar, Howrah and Delhi and adding extra coaches during peak seasons for passengers on waiting lists.
