Tatanagar: Proposals for specially-abled, senior citizens in railway services

Seraikela: The first meeting of the Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) of Chakradharpur Railway Division (CKP) was chaired by the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM). Arun Kumar Singh, President of Jharkhand Viklang Manch, participated as a member and raised various issues concerning Specially-abled (persons with disabilities) and senior citizens.

Key demands included installing digital display boards at Adityapur and Chakradharpur stations, providing ramps and lifts at Tatanagar, Adityapur and Chakradharpur stations and ensuring the availability of wheelchairs and free parking for Specially-abled at Tatanagar station. Singh also urged the formulation of a policy to prioritize employment for Specially-abled at Tatanagar station.

Other proposals involved deploying 24×7 battery-operated vehicles at major stations, setting up wheelchair facilities near platforms and gates and introducing a mobile app to provide reservation and coach information for Specially-abled and senior citizens.

The DRM acknowledged these suggestions and assured necessary action. The meeting brought hope for significant improvements in railway services for Specially-abled and senior citizens.
