Security forces recover 3 IEDs from Goelkera jungles in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum

 

Jamshedpur, Oct 13: In a significant breakthrough against Maoist insurgency, security forces, including Jharkhand Police, CRPF, and Jharkhand Jaguar recovered three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from Maoist-infested forest areas of Maradri and Lamsadih under Goilkera in West Singhbhum on Thursday.

The operation dealt a severe blow to Maoist activities and underlined the continuous efforts to maintain peace and security in the region. Recovered IEDs: One weighing 4 kgs from Maradri, 2 weighing 6 kgs each from Lamsadih, One spike hole was also detected.

The joint operation by local police and specialized anti-insurgency units was executed with caution. Acting on intelligence inputs , security forces located strategically hidden IEDs in a remote area known for Maoist activity.

A joint campaign was initiated in villages under Goilkera police station and targeted border areas of Tatanta police station. The operation covered Kuida, Chhota Kuida, Maradiri, Meralgada, Hathiburu, Tilabeda, Boypaisa Ng, Katamba, Bayhatu, Bora Ray and other key locations.

The area was cordoned off immediately upon discovery of IEDs. A wide peremeter was established to ensure the safety of nearby communities. The bomb disposal squad was called in to handle the hazardous situation with precision.

Authorities commended the collaborative efforts of security forces in executing the operation. Recovery of IEDs is a significant setback for Maoist insurgents, disrupting their destructive activities.

Recovered IEDs will undergo forensic analysis to gather intelligence and trace their origin. Investigations are underway to identify individuals or groups responsible for planting these devices. Authorities urged the local population to remain alert and report any suspicious activities promptly.

A senior police official commended the bravery of security personnel. He stated, “The recovery of these IEDs is a testament to the dedication of our security forces. We remain committed to eradicating the Maoist menace and ensuring the safety of our citizens.”

Further investigations are underway to dismantle the Naxal network and thwart any potential threats to peace and stability.
