Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Friday that two oil tankers caught fire after striking naval mines.
The vessels attempted to transit the Strait of Hormuz through an unauthorized route, the military branch reported.
In an official statement on Sepah News, the IRGC navy stated that both ships had disabled their navigation and identification systems.
The captains tried to exit the strait using the restricted path with direct backing from the United States Army.
However, the deployed naval mines halted the violating vessels immediately upon impact.
The Iranian navy emphasized that the strategic Strait of Hormuz remains strictly closed to unauthorized maritime traffic.
Tehran warned that no change will occur to the waterway’s status quo until Washington meets seven specific Iranian conditions.
Xinhua News Agency relayed these strict demands from the Iranian military establishment.
The IRGC further stated that US Central Command forces continue to push commercial tankers through the mined corridor.
Iranian commanders declared that these American efforts will yield only consecutive and abject defeats for the coalition.
This incident follows closely on the heels of similar maritime clashes reported earlier this week in the region.
On Thursday, the IRGC announced that three vessels caught fire during two separate incidents on Wednesday night.
Those vessels, which included two massive supertankers, also used an illegal southern route across the strait.
In the first Wednesday night incident, an oil tanker struck a naval mine and erupted into flames.
The ship was actively traversing the prohibited southern path when the underwater explosion occurred.
During the second incident, another departing oil tanker caught fire east of the vital waterway.
A nearby tugboat approached the burning tanker to help contain the spreading blaze.
Unfortunately, the rescue tugboat also caught fire during its emergency response efforts.
In a separate military operation, Iran’s naval electronic warfare unit intercepted two invading combat drones.
Specialists took full control of the low-cost uncrewed attack systems and landed them completely unharmed.
Following these incidents, Tehran sharply criticized the actions of the United States government in West Asia.
The IRGC accused Washington of imposing heavy financial and insurance costs on American taxpayers and regional allies.
Iranian officials claimed that US forces actively entice commercial vessels into committing maritime violations.
By encouraging ships to enter the mined zones, Washington directly endangers global shipping crews and vessels.
Tensions remain exceptionally high across the Persian Gulf as naval forces enforce the ongoing blockade.
