JLKM MLA Jairam Mahto expressed deep grief over Nisha Bhagat’s death and demanded an impartial investigation into the matter.
On social media platform X, he described Nisha Bhagat as a spirited and prominent tribal leader from Jharkhand.
He questioned the circumstances that forced her to take the extreme step of ending her own life.
Mahto demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the case.
He stated that Bhagat was a dedicated party leader who had contested elections as a candidate from Gumla.
According to Mahto, she possessed a strong resolve to fight against injustice across the state.
He noted that her untimely demise represents an irreparable loss for the people of Jharkhand.
Before her suicide, Bhagat cried during a Facebook Live session and called the local Station House Officer (SHO).
Mahto questioned why police officials ignored her desperate plea at that crucial moment, calling it a grave concern.
He demanded that authorities register cases against everyone Bhagat named during her live video and arrest them immediately.
Furthermore, he called for a thorough probe into allegations against the government, Jharkhand Police, and local land brokers.
He asserted that investigators must not spare the guilty under any circumstances.
Mahto also highlighted how perpetrators publicly humiliate tribal women, question their character, and defame them with false accusations.
He asked how much longer the daughters of their society must endure such severe harassment.
Raising concerns over tribal land plunder, he criticized the unchecked activities of land brokers across Ranchi and Jharkhand.
He alleged that the land and fundamental rights of tribal communities remain under constant threat today.
Mahto pointed out that violations of the CNT and SPT Acts have surfaced continuously since Jharkhand’s formation.
He also questioned the lack of clear legislation protecting government land and demanded an effective safeguarding system.
Reiterating his demand for an SIT and CBI probe, he stressed that the inquiry must uncover the complete truth.
He insisted that no culprit should evade accountability through political protection or external influence.
Concluding his post, Mahto paid tribute to Bhagat and promised that people would always remember her voice and struggles.
He affirmed that securing justice for Nisha Bhagat would serve as the most fitting tribute to her legacy.
