Security forces increase vigil after six Maoists nabbed in West Singhbhum

Jamshedpur : The joint team of West Singhbhum district police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has increased vigil after the arrest of six hardcore Maoist ultras, wanted in several criminal from Lupunga village, under Gua police station at West Singhbhum district on Friday night.

Acting on a tip off the team conducted raid and nabbed the dreaded criminals. Those arrested have been identified as section commanders Tipa Das alias Umresh Das, Vikram Turi alias Anil Turi, Ramvir Patro, other assistants Vir Singh, Jagdish Kumar Das and Naranyan Patro.

A country pistol and four live cartridges, several cell phones and Maoists uniform have been recovered from the ultras.

Superintendent of Police N K Singh said acting on a tip off joint team of police and paramilitary forces was patrolling at different places in West Singhbhum to nab other Maoists too.

The Maoists were sitting in a group in the forest area when the security forces happened to sight them. The Maoists tried to run away however the security personnel succeeded to nab them.

The district police also said that interrogation is on and wouldn�t conclude anything at this juncture. �Thus far, they hasn�t spoken much though interrogation is on.

We are verifying that whether reports of his association with squad are true or not. Cannot conclude at this juncture,� said a police official.

The police have also beefed up security in the naxal-infested areas of Ghatshila sub division consisting of areas like Dumaria, Musaboni, Chakulia, Bahragora and Ghatshila.

According to the police information about ten bordering police stations in the two districts are largely Maoist infested wherein the proposed operation would be carried out.

SP said that the police have also intensified the efforts for strengthening security arrangements especially on the routes used by Maoists to enter the naxal infested areas.

�Security has been beefed up across the area. We are keeping a strict vigil on the movement of the villagers too. There has been a substantial increase in Maoist activities in this area.

We are not much concerned about small acts of violence because these activities can be controlled by us,� said a security official.
