Schools to be opened in city and Dumka for physically challenged

Jamshedpur: The state Advisory Board held a meeting during which Minister for Girl Child Development and Social Security Dr Louis Marandi heard Board Member Arun Kumar Singh from Jamshedpur, a critical analysis of the hardships being faced by the challenged community. He said that in spite of the state government grants, there were many places in Jharkhand where schools for the challenged people were in a very sorry state.

Singh pointed out that there was a shortage specialist teachers, many types of physically challenged children were being stuffed into one school. �It would be better if the government takes over the administration of schools in the state where blind, deaf and dumb students have been enrolled. These schools are not providing qualitative education. The funds are being misappropriated in these institutions.�

After reviewing the points raised by members Dr Louis Marandi gave instructions. Among the instructions, the Minister directed that proper funds be allocated district wise, opening of schools for the mentally challenged at Jamshedpur and Dumka, financial encouragement be given to challenged people�s marriage in line with MP, formation of a society on International Physically Challenged Day on the directives of the Chief Minister, recruitment of teachers as per guidelines in four schools and appointment of special teachers as per norms for schools for blind, deaf and dumb students.

Among others present in the meeting were Social Security Department secretary Amitabh Kaushal, State Commissioner for physically challenged persons Satish Chandra along with other officials.
