Jamshedpur : The private schools in the city were asked to submit their interpretations of the RTE Act and suggestions on fee structure and schools performance at a meeting conducted by Amitabh Kaushal, the deputy commissioner, East Singhbhum on April 16 at Centre for Excellence. The schools were supposed to submit their reports till April 20 but none of have turned up.
The district administration had asked private English medium schools to submit their questions and doubts under the RTE Act to the deputy commissioner. The deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum, Amitabh Kaushal on Thursday met the principals and managing committee members to update them of the rules of the RTE Act at the Centre for Excellence.
Kaushal made it clear that schools who have been given land on lease or a sub lease will be treated as aided schools and not unaided schools. Also he explained how schools must form a school management committee (SMC) under the act. It will serve as a platform for grievances.
A school principal said that the schools need more time to compile it and. The school association will send a report rather than individual schools sending the same.
Meanwhile the economically deprived children here are confronting multiple problems in seeking admission to the high-fees elite private English medium schools mandated under Right to Education Act.
In the light of a section of the private run English schools refusing to give admission forms to the below poverty line (BPL) parents, citing one excuse or other, a city based parents outfit has written letter to the state government and Governor seeking immediate intervention into the matter.
A large section of BPL parents have been deprived of the admission forms, for the next academic session, since the distribution exercise got start about a fortnight ago.
