President Droupadi Murmu Lays Foundation Stone for Shri Jagannath Temple in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Jamshedpur today, February 26, 2026, receiving a grand welcome. Following her arrival, she proceeded directly to the site of the upcoming Shri Jagannath Temple and Spiritual Center on Marine Drive (Anil Sur Path) in Kadma.

The President participated in the Bhoomi Pujan (ground-breaking ceremony) with deep devotion, overseeing all the rituals. The ceremony was conducted by a group of priests specially brought from the Jagannath Dham in Puri.

Several dignitaries accompanied the President during the event, including:

  • Joba Majhi, Singhbhum MP

  • T.V. Narendran, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Steel

President Murmu lauded the RSB Group Vice Chairman and Managing Director S.K. Behera and his entire team for their efforts in establishing the temple. Mr. Behera welcomed all the guests at the venue.

  • Inspiration: The temple is designed as a replica of the 12th-century Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha.

  • Cost & Scale: The project is estimated to cost ₹100 Crore and is spread across 2.5 acres.

  • Timeline: The spiritual center is expected to be ready in 2 years, while the main temple structure is projected for completion in 4 years.

  • Impact: Beyond being a place of worship, the center aims to serve as a hub for spiritual science and personality development for the youth.
